40 Years of Chicano Studies at Cal State L.A.

January 26, 2009 – March 13, 2009

The Library exhibit “40 Years of Chicano Studies at Cal State L.A.” celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Department of Chicano Studies at Cal State Los Angeles. The Department of Chicano Studies was founded in fall 1968. It was originally “Mexican American Studies” and is reputedly the first established department of its kind in the United States. The exhibit highlights key milestones in the development of the discipline on campus, the role of students, as well as the social-political context of the time.
