A break in the water main near the Music building flooded
the library at approx. 2:30 am on Thursday (April 2, 2015).
Library North
levels One, A and B were affected with
the print journal collection, Graduate Resource Center and ITS most heavily
damaged.
Water pouring through the ceiling destroyed ceiling tiles, filled the
light fixtures and drenched many of the bound periodical volumes. Every bound journal is being moved either to an
off-site freeze-drying facility or to a dry location in the Palmer Wing and
will be inaccessible for a time.

- Access to levels A and B will be restricted during clean-up and repair activities
- The
Graduate Resource Center (Library North, Level A) will be relocated for the rest of the
quarter. A new location is TBA
- Students will not be charged overdue fines during the period the library had to close (April 2 - 5, 2015)
- Library and ITS personnel on level B have relocated their offices to other parts of the building
- A status message has been added to the library catalog for all print journal titles that are unavailable at this time. Please note that some titles may be available online and you can also use the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to request articles from journals that are temporarily unavailable
